Paris Saint-Germain opened its campaign to reclaim the French league crown with a 2-1 win against Troyes on Saturday, led by defender Achraf Hakimi's debut goal. Troyes upset PSG by grabbing the lead in the eighth minute, thanks to defender Oualid El Hajjam's powerful header from a corner. After signing for 60 million euros from Italian champion Inter Milan, Hakimi equalized in the 18th minute with a clean strike past the Troyes goalie after breaking free down the right.
Two minutes later, striker Mauro Icardi showed good poise and awareness by controlling a pass from forwarding Kylian Mbappe and flicking the ball in with the outside of his foot. Mbappe had another chance, but Troyes center striker Renaud Ripart was also active and was twice denied by goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
