AS Monaco has had an obviously poor start to the 2021/22 Ligue 1 season, as the team suffered another defeat, this time against RC Lens. The match concluded with a final score of 0-2. The Monegasques were unable to gain an advantage over their guests in the opening 45 minutes of the game, as the Lensois put up an unexpectedly strong fight in the scorching summer weather.
Lens, on the other hand, would show to be the more threatening in the second half. Lens did not wait long to open the scoring in the second half, as Ignatius Ganago got past Alexander Nübel in between the Principality's posts in the 51st minute, putting the visitors up 1-0. Monaco's numerical advantage was short-lived, however, as Aleksandr Golovin was sent off in the 86th minute for his part in a clumsy tackle.
