Ligue 1: Clermont Foot yet again took over Lille 1-0

Lille suffered their fourth defeat of the season when they were defeated 1-0 by promoted Clermont on Saturday, just days before a crucial Champions League match against Sevilla. Clermont gained their third win of the season and moved up to 11th place with 13 points when Vital N'Simba scored his first league goal. Lille was without Burak Yilmaz, who was suspended, and his absence weighed heavily on the northerners, who lacked aggression throughout.

Clermont was the first team to play, and their dominance was rewarded in the 32nd minute when N'Simba scored with a low half-volley after Benjamin Andre's clearing fell into his path. Early in the second half, Lille had a penalty claim turned down after N'Simba seemed to handle the ball in the Clermont area. However, eight minutes from time, they had their greatest chance to draw level, but Arthur Desmas blocked Jose Fonte's low attempt.
