Ligue1: Nice and Marseille game abandoned after players brawl on field

A brawl broke out at the Allianz Riviera Stadium in the second half of the Nice and Marseille match which resulted in complete abandonment of the match. The dramatic Sunday night saw a lot of chaos on the field when the fans invaded the field and interrupted the match.

First, a fan threw a bottle on Dimitri Payet who lobbed it back into the crowd angrily. All hell broke loose when spectators and players then started fighting on the field. Eventually, Marseille refused to restart the match as players did not feel safe at the Allianz Riviera Stadium. During the match, even the Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli was seeing red and white as well and was spotted restraining against his staff and players. Nice was leading the match 1-0 with the help from Kasper Dolberg but OM refused to play. This was the second time OM players were attacked even during the 3-2 win at Montpellier, Valentin Rongier took the hit.
