Lille stays on top with goals from Yilmaz and Celik

Lille sealed a 2-0 win against Metz and the club stretched their lead at the top by six points on Friday with goals by Burak Yilmaz and Zeki Celik in the second half. Mike Maignan saved Lille from conceding as well and claimed the three points to stay on top. Paris Saint-Germain is three points below them and Metz stretched their winless run to four matches now.

Christophe Galtier's side was favored to win this match and claimed their eighth win from 11 matches. The first half saw a Metz free-kick being ruled out as being offside as Lille thanked their stars when John Boye’s shot was ruled out as it had hit Jose Fonte. Maignan kept the defense side strong by stopping a 17th minute free-kick by Aaron Leya Iseka and Lille is close to earning a title for the first time after 2010/11.
