Lionel Messi agrees to play for Barcelona till 2026, reduced his wages to half

The new chairman of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, insisted on re-signing Messi by the end of this summer. Barcelona will now be funding Argentina’s captains’ wages. The finer details of the contract will be finalized after the return from his vacation after winning Copa America. 

Messi holds the unbeatable record from Barcelona of 672 goals, 4 Champions League titles, 7 Copa del Reys, and 10 La Liga Titles. The Barcelona star had entered free agency after his contract expired on 30th June, while no written agreement was put in place but Messi has confirmed he would be staying at Camp Nou till the end of 2026 with reduced wages Barcelona is also looking forward to signing swap deals with other players also, like forwards player Antoine Greizmann and Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez. He would be signing off the deals along with reducing the age bills.
