Newly promoted Fulham started off the match on a good note and even enjoyed a 1-0 lead early on with Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring the opening goal at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Liverpool's first half may not have been fruitful but later they made a comeback with Darwin Nunez leveling the score. The home side again struck soon after with Mitrovic getting his second goal of the match with a penalty kick, and forcing Salah to save the day for Liverpool.
Last season’s runners-up did not start off where they ended last season, in fact they were struggling to keep up with Fulham. Neeskens Kebano even almost delivered the side another goal but his roaring shot found the post instead and similarly Jordan Henderson almost gave his side a winner as well in stoppage-time but met the crossbar instead.
