Barcelona confirmed that the 32-year old went under the knife to fix a long standing knee injury earlier this week, ruling them out of their final two la Liga games of the season and the Copa del Rey final on May 25th.
He is expected to be out of action for a total of six weeks, and the former Liverpool man is confident he will be fit in time for the tournament in Brazil.
"It will be fine, he told an interview with El Pais. In a month, I will be ready to play again. It is not the same injury as in 2017. That was cartilage and this is a meniscus problem".
Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is set to play French international Ousmane Dembélé in his place for the final against Valencia, with Kevin-Prince Boateng seeing some more league minutes.
