Lyon Squashed Nice to move overhead Ligue 1 table

Lyon revealed just why it is a competitor to be surmised by winning at Nice 4-1. It managed to go to the top of the French league. And, extend its unconquered run to 13 games on Saturday.

The smooth strike force of Tino Kadewere, Memphis Depay, and Karl Toko Ekambi demonstrated too much for Nice. It was Lyon who moved one point forward of Lille. And, also two clear of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), ahead of their meeting on Sunday.

After Kadewere was fouled, Depay put Lyon ahead with a calmly struck Panenka-style penalty in the 31st minute. Walter Benitez, the goalkeeper was wrong-footed by Depay's spot-kick.

Seven minutes later, Kadewere made it 2-0 when he seized a poor pass in defense.  And, he still finished confidently. But, Amine Gouiri, forward pulled a goal back just before the break against his erstwhile club.
