Los Blancos set their eye on Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon, and believed the Premier League duo could be the new left-back in the summer. Real Madrid’s current full-back Marcelo would soon be out of contract at Santiago Bernabeu stadium and mark an end to a 15-year long career.
Real has the option to deploy Ferland Mendy for the next campaign but the team now needs a backup option, some depth in the roster. Tierney and Reguilon are being considered for the role but Real would be spending a lot more for players who in all likelihood would not be regulars. Tierney would cost around €30m (£25m) while Reguilon would get a chance to rejoin Real and the summer move would cost the Spanish giants around €40m (£33m).
