Manchester United is interested in Sporting CP's Manuel Ugarte, although the most recent information indicates that he has accepted a transfer to Chelsea. The Uruguayan international will officially join the Blues for £55.8 million (65 million euros). The London club will pay 5 million euros in add-ons in addition to activating the 60 million euro clause. Famalicao, the player's former club, will receive a portion of the sum.
In an effort to entice the South American defensive midfielder, Manchester United and PSG have even offered salary proposals. But, Ugarte has reportedly agreed to personal terms to go to Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino's team was able to persuade him by making an offer of 3.5 million euros per season plus bonuses in contrast to PSG's offer of approximately 5 million euros per season. At Chelsea, Manuel Ugarte will have a greater chance to get the start. He'll probably take the position of departing N'Golo Kante, whose contract expires this month.
