Manchester City beats Brentford to enjoy a eight point lead at the top

The Premier League defending champions extended their lead at the top of the table by beating Brentford by 1-0. The Wednesday fixture saw Manchester City leading the table by eight points while their title rival Chelsea and Liverpool dropped points in the recent matches. Phil Foden scored the only goal of the day in the first half itself as City now sports 50 points about halfway in the season with Chelsea sitting second on the table and Liverpool one point behind.
