Manchester City break three CL records on their way to 5-0 win against Sporting

Citizens were once again their splendid selves as they break new milestones during the 5-0 win in the UEFA Champions League match against Sporting CP at the José Alvalade Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side opened fired in the seventh minute with Riyad Mahrez. Bernando Silva then came back with a brace and Phil Foden also etched his name on the scoresheet to give Cityzens a comfortable lead before the break.

The host kept looking for chances to score until Raheem Sterling made the score scream 5-0 and the defeated-looking Sporting CP failed to get past City’s defense. City became the first PL team to lead the away game by four or more goals at half-time in the knockout stages. They also crossed the 200 goals threshold in the UEFA Champions League to become the 14th team to do and recorded five back-to-back away wins in the knockout stage at José Alvalade Stadium.
