Manchester City destroyed Schalke 04 and secured Champions' quarter-finals

Having won the first leg of their last 16 tie by a 3-2 scoreline in Germany, Manchester City were always the favourites to progress against Schalke 04 and they did so in style by scoring seven times at the Etihad.

Amazingly, there were no goals in the first 35 minutes of the match, yet they couldn't stop scoring after Sergio Aguero got the first from the spot 10 minutes before the break. Three minutes later the Argentine bagged another, while Leroy Sané netted against his former club before the break as well.

Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden all added their names to the scoresheet midway through the second half as Pep Guardiola's side completely destroyed a deflated Schalke team, before Gabriel Jesus rounded off the night's scoring in the final 10 minutes. It made the aggregate score 10-2, with City emphatically booking their ticket to the next round.
