Manchester City signed Eibar goalkeeper Asier Riesgo

The 35-year-old has penned a one-year contract at the English champions and will then be instilled as goalkeeping coach when he retires next summer, the report  in Marca adds.

The Basque native started 14 La Liga games for Eibar this campaign and will be City’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Ederson Moraes and Claudio Bravo.

Riesgo has been a fixture in Spain’s top flight since he made his debut in 2002 for Real Sociedad - with whom he made over 130 first-team appearances.

He also spent five years at Osasuna before moving to Ipurua in the summer of 2015 - making 65 appearances across the four seasons since.

Riesgo has reportedly been recommended to City by current goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisidor, while he also previously worked alongside Chilean shot-stopper Bravo at La Real.

City boss Pep Guardiola wanted a veteran goalkeeper who would be able to assume the role of third-choice.
