Manchester City was the preferred destination for Joao Felix

Felix still remains as Atletico Madrid’s most-expensive buy ever but the 21-year-old has struggled to fit into Diego Simeone’s defensive system and thus, goals have been hard to come by.

The Cityzens are still in their search of a perfect, young number nine, who can emulate the success that former striker and record goal-scorer, Sergio Aguero had at the club.

The Sky Blues have been linked with a number of young strikers in recent times. The likes of Erling Haaland, Dusan Vlahovic, and Joao Felix have dominated the majority of the rumors. With that said, it has now come to light that Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes preferred a move to Manchester City for the striker, before Benfica’s £113 million deal with Atleti was finalized, in 2019.
