Manchester United are asking Harry Maguire to be something he's not

Book his showing against Burnley has exposed his recent seal protection flaws with his decision to close club Jay Rodriguez rather than space taking home – judging him just for a string of bad performances is shortsighted and it certainly isn't more of a defender than a defender.

Seeing him this way, the expectation is that everything he does is defensive. But analyzing them like this does something: consider it redundant what they do on the field and set them up for one or two the moment they fall short of that improvement.

Maguire has fallen short in that department recently, now is a good time to look at what's left him doing well, for the sake of balance and understanding.
