Marseille keeps its hope of top five finish alive

Ligue 1 Uber Eats weekend saw Marseille still eyeing a top-five finish in the league after Leonardo Balerdi's powerful header along with Alvaro Gonzalez flick saw them to a 2-0 win against Dijon on Sunday. OM took advantage of the opportunity to climb closer to fifth-placed Lens, to cut their lead to just a point after they drew up with Lyon on Saturday. Jorge Sampaoli's men handed Ligue 1's bottom side their 11th straight loss.

Moussa Konaté had the chance to put his side ahead but fired wide in the 17th minute. Florian Thauvin saved a free-kick by Saturnin Allagbé in the 41st minute and Dimitri Payet did the same until Balerdi pushed his header past Dijon’s goalkeeper in the stoppage time to score his second goal. Payet  later set up Gonzalez for Marseille's second goal with 11 minutes left in the game to seize their second win off last three matches.
