Marseille missed the chance to climb ranks after Lens loss

Simon Banza scored the only goal for the night for Lens who won against Marseille by 1-0 in the duo's rearranged match on Wednesday at the Stade Vélodrome in Ligue 1. Andre Villas-Boas' side saw their chances to title this season squandered when Lens walked away with three points on their hand and they lost the chance to be among the top three on the table. His side is in the doldrums after having just one win from last seven matches, they faced defeat at the hands of Nîmes as well, hoping for the comeback.

OM face the worst luck of all they made just one attempt in the first half. In the second half Seko Fofana opened by going wide in the 49th minute and later his long-distance shot went wide as well and Banza rolled down a powerful header past Mandanda in the 59th minute to give Lens their lead.
