Marseille pays a tribute to Pele before clinching a 6-1 win over Toulouse

Pele's legacy as a football player has been honoured as Marseille humiliated Toulouse 6-1 to rise to third in the French Ligue 1. The home win moved Marseille four points ahead of Rennes in third, two points ahead of Lens in the French league. Marseille fans honoured Brazilian legend Pele with a moment of silence at Stade Velodrome. Dimitri Payet, a midfielder for Marseille, wiped away tears as he joined in the applause for the World Cup winner.

Marseille had its best performance under coach Igor Tudor as a team as it scored six goals against Toulouse. Igor Tudor appears to have figured out the best way to utilise the playmaker Payet, who created havoc on the pitch with his vision and passing. Samuel Gigot exposed the left flank and set Valentin Rongier up for the opener in the 13th minute, and Marseille doubled its lead in the 41st minute with a lob by Rasmus Nicolaisen on his own goalkeeper.
