Marseille won at Montpellier to notch up a fourth successive victory

Nuno Tavares' and Maxime Esteve's goals in the second half gave Marseille a 2-0 lead, but they had to hold on in a frenzied end that saw on-loan players Before Teji Savanier scored from the penalty spot four minutes from time, Arsenal left-back Tavares was dismissed from the game. Following last week's 6-1 demolition of Toulouse, Marseille is now three points ahead of Monaco in fifth place and four points behind Lens in second place, which defeated Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Igor Tudor, the Marseille coach, stated, "We struggled a little, but it's a nice victory. "At first, we didn't have much speed or something. We were able to regain some freshness over the break. At the start of the second half, after Jonas Omlin had denied Jordan Veretout's header with a diving save, Tavares scored his fifth goal of the year to give the game its first lead of the game.
