River Plate announced on Wednesday Martín Demichelis as the new coach of the main team of the milliononarios, succeeding Marcelo Gallardo, a very successful coach at the Buenos Aires emblem.
A player at the club between 1998 and 2003, Demichelis, now aged 41, began his career as an assistant at Málaga (2017/18) and then managed, from 2018, the under-19s, first, and in 2021/22 the Bayern Munich B team.
"I've been with my family all over the world, but in my house only the 'riverplatense' language has always been spoken. Protagonism, discipline and sacrifice, that's what I want to convey to my players", shot Demichelis.
As a player, the now coach of River Plate also represented Bayern Munich (2003 to 2010), Málaga (from 2011 to 2013, and again in 2017), Atlético Madrid (2013), Man. City (2013 to 2016), Espanyol (2016/17).
