France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni scored twice leading Monaco to a 2-1 victory over Lille. This has become their eighth straight win, moving them to the second position in the French league. Monaco and Marseille are equal on points but are leading on goal difference before Marseille’s game on Sunday at Lorient. The second position automatically gets qualified for the next season’s Champion’s League and there are two rounds pending after this weekend.
In the 42nd minute, Tchouameni scored his first from just outside the penalty area after being set up by Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder and shooting past goalkeeper Leo Jardim. Angel Gomes equalized midway through the second half for Lille, who were last season's champions. Further, in the 75th minute, Tchouameni scored again after being assisted by Brazilian Caio Henrique.
