Motta emerges as strong favourite for Real Sociedad managerial role

Real Sociedad endured a tumultuous start to the campaign, leaving Sergio Francisco’s position precarious for weeks. Consequently, the 'txuri-urdin' outfit has promoted B-team coach Ansotegi to interim charge until the year concludes.

However, the hierarchy is already identifying the leader for their project starting in the new year. Kike Marin of 'El Confidencial' reports that Thiago Motta is their preferred candidate. After two stellar years guiding Bologna into Europe, Juventus hired Motta for an ambitious rebuild. Despite laying strong early foundations, too many stalemates during the final stretch meant his tenure lasted only that single campaign.

Currently a free agent, Motta could soon begin his maiden Spanish managerial adventure with Real Sociedad, returning to the country where he previously starred as a player for both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
