Napoli invite Maradona's new club

Maradona was appointed Coach of the Argentine club last week and greeted by thousands of fans at his presentation.

“We’d been asking for some time if Diego could do well with us and we asked an intermediary if he was available,” President Gabriel Pellegrino told Radio CNN.

“There is great enthusiasm and we are sure that we can give him everything he needs. In fact, the moment the move was made official, Napoli called us to organise a friendly match or event”.

Maradona remains an icon for the Partenopei after winning two Serie A titles, the UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup here from 1984-91.
