After failing to sign Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico, Napoli and Getafe have apparently reached an agreement on Mathias Olivera's transfer to Serie A. The Partenopei will pay the Spaniards €1 million for a season-long loan with a €11 million purchase option and €3 million in add-ons. Olivera will stay with Getafe for the duration of the season before joining Napoli in the summer. Luciano Spalletti has been looking for a new left-back to give his defensive unit some competition.
Injury problems have plagued Mario Rui and Faouzi Ghoulam this season, pressing Spalletti's hand in the trade market. Tagliafico had been linked with a move to Napoli, but the Ajax star is focused on joining Barcelona in the last days of the January transfer window. The Partenopei have turned their attention to Olivera, who has had a good La Liga season so far after admitting defeat in the race to sign the Argentina international.
