Paris court investigates alleged extortion of Paul Pogba

Paris General Attorney Laure Beccuau said in a statement that, after the first investigations started on August 3, an investigation was then opened against unknown persons for organized extortion and criminal association.

The Juventus midfielder filed a complaint on July 16 in Turin for having been threatened by people he knew in an apartment, demanding payment of 13 million euros.

Pogba claimed to have given €100,000 to the alleged kidnappers, signing a document in which he promised to pay the large remaining amount.

According to the French press, the Central Division for the Fight Against Organized Crime of the French Judiciary Police has questioned several people close to the player, such as his mother, as well as himself. Among the possible suspects is Pogba's older brother, Mathias, who is international for Guinea-Conakry, where the family comes from.

Mathias recently stated that he had "explosive revelations" to make about his brother.
