Cristiano Ronaldo marked his comeback to the Premier League with a brace in Manchester United's 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford Stadium on Saturday. The Red Devils moved to the top of the standings with 10 points from four games after the convincing victory.
After head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the 36-year-old Ronaldo his first start for Manchester United in 12 years, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored just before halftime. After Javier Manquillo equalized for Newcastle in the second half, he restored his team's lead with a left-footed shot. Bruno Fernandes added a third goal from 25 yards out in the 80th minute, and Jesse Lingard capped the scoring in injury time with a right-footed drive from inside the area.
