PREVIEW: Asante Kotoko vs Berekum Chelsea

Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko will play host to Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday as they aim to continue with their impressive start to the season under coach Maxwell Konadu.

The Porcupine Warriors have had an impeccable start to the season with back-to-back victories against Eleven Wonders and Legon Cities FC respectively and will be aiming to make it 3 out of 3 against Chelsea.

Berekum Chelsea will be facing Asante Kotoko for the 21st time in the premier league – Kotoko have won 8, drawn 7 and lost 5 to their opponent. Chelsea have not fared that bad at the Baba Yara against Kotoko as they have clinched 3 wins and 2 draws from their 11 visits.

Going into the game, Berekum Chelsea have lost just 1 of their last 6 games in the premier league and will be hoping to build on it as they aim to hurt their host.

Chelsea's away performance is a major concern ahead of their trip to Kumasi as they have only managed one win in 11 trips - their matchday one clash with Hearts of Oak is the only victory on the road in last 11 games.

The last time Asante Kotoko lost a league game was way back in 2018 when they lost 3-1 to Karela United at Ainyinase, after that defeat they have gone 6 games unbeaten with just a draw in between these games.

Asante Kotoko are very formidable at home as they will look to capitalize on home support to fetch third straight victory. They have lost just 2 games at home in 35 games. Their last home defeat was against Accra Hearts of Oak in April 2018.

It would be an interesting game at the Baba Yara on Sunday as Kotoko have not lost a home game against Chelsea in their last 4 encounters but this Chelsea side are not short of confidence ahead of the game as they will look to draw inspiration from their victory against Hearts of Oak on matchday one.

This will be a very huge task for the away side as their opponents are currently flying -  Kotoko came back from a goal down to easy past Legon Cities in their last game as against Chelsea picking just a point against Liberty Professionals at the Golden City.
