Real Betis held back Atletico Madrid in La Liga

Atletico Madrid was knocked from the top of the La Liga table recently, Real Betis held them back with 1-1 on Sunday and with one point they moved back to the top spot claiming the place from Real Madrid who had leapfrogged Barcelona to top the table for the first time since December after beating the team by 2-1.

Atletico now enjoys a one-point lead over Real and a two-point lead over Barcelona. Atletico was without Luis Suarez, who had netted 19 times this season but missed this match due to injury and went ahead in five minutes after Belgian international Yannick Carrasco pushed a goal in the empty net but Betis answered back with a 15th-minute leveler. They remain sixth on the table currently hoping for a berth in European football next season.
