Zinedine Zidane’s side was held to a winless draw by Real Sociedad as the Los Blancos faced a difficult start to LaLiga. Martin Odegaard made his first appearance in the league from Madrid’s side since 2015 and impressed many with his skills. The opening half was quite exciting for Madrid as Thibaut Courtois saved an impressive goal by stretching his leg against Alexander Isak’s attack, who put in his best foot forward to score. Real Sociedad kept up the attacking mode throughout the second half with the help of Mikel Oyarzabal and Ander Barrenetxea.
Madrid had deployed striker Karim Benzema who failed miserably. With just two minutes left in the game, Raphael Varane blocked Real Sociedad debutant David Silva’s curler as well. The extra time also saw more of the same. Real Sociedad leaves with two points and Real Madrid with one.
