Real Madrid lost their first La Liga game of the season

In a back-and-forth match, Rayo took an early lead but Real came back to win 2-1. After just five minutes, Santiago Comesana gave the home team the lead amid boisterous celebrations. However, Madrid took control of the game with two goals in as many minutes. Eder Militao gave Carlo Ancelotti's previously unbeaten team the lead after Luca Modric had first levelled the score from the penalty spot in the 37th minute.
