Real Madrid scored late to draw 1-1 in the Spanish league

The most recent Madrid derby at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium was more of the same. Real Madrid once more managed to win. Atletico Madrid criticized the refereeing once more. On Saturday, Madrid struck late to tie 1-1 in the Spanish league, extending its home winning streak over the local rival to seven years. When striker Angel Correa was given a controversial red card for elbowing Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger in the 64th minute, Atletico started playing with 10 men.

Diego Simeone, the Atletico coach, argued that Correa's behaviour was not severe enough to warrant a red card. Simeone remarked, "There was contact, but it wasn't a strike." "Rüdiger stood up right away. It may have been a yellow, but it wasn't serious enough to remove a player from the game. If they called it every time, there wouldn't be any players left.
