Real Madrid's unbeaten start to the season ended at home against Osasuna

Real Madrid had a flawless start to the season, but Osasuna threw them off their game in their first match after the international break. Osasuna left the Santiago Bernabeu with a 1-1 draw after Karim Benzema missed a penalty. Even before the game began, Madrid was dealt a blow when Thibaut Courtois was forced to come off the bench due to a back ailment and Luka Modric was unable to play due to an injury he sustained while representing his country.

Unai Garcia was dismissed after Madrid was given a penalty in the 79th minute for obstructing Benzema as a result of the foul. The French forward took the penalty kick alone, but he missed the mark as the visitors managed to earn a point. Real Madrid's unbeaten start to the campaign was broken with their draw against Osasuna, and as a result, they now trail Barcelona in the league standings on goal differential.
