The Catalan club were the third and final club to be relegated from La Liga this season but there have been suggestions that Valladolid could face a sanction if they are found to be in breach of league rules.
In a match-fixing operation in Spain which has become known as Operation Oikos, the stunning revelations that ‘seven Valladolid players had been bought’ appeared in the press on Monday evening.
The allegations are in relation to the club’s final day two-goal defeat against Valencia, when Valladolid were already safe and which saw Los Che clinch a Champions League spot.
“They (Spanish football authorities) have to act and be very diligent in this situation, they have always said that they would not accept any kind of influence,” Geli told Cadena Ser, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“Girona are now a Segunda team, but we will see what is happening".
