REPORT: Karela United 3-0 Legon Cities

A brace from Diawisie Taylor for Karela United sealed a 2-0 victory against Legon Cities on Friday at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa.

The encounter kicked off matchday 7 of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season with the Pride and Passion lads fetch their second win of the season with ease.

Karela have struggled at home this season as they play home away from home with their fortress, the CAM Park under renovations.

Diawisie Taylor found the back of the net for Karela with half an hour played as he pounced on a loose ball inside Legon Cities own half to fire home the opener.

Legon Cities early on in the game were forced into making their first substitution of the game – Mohammed Suleman was unable to continue with the game with just 12 minutes of action and was replaced by Stephen Bonney.

The visitors did not sit back, they forced their way into the dangerous positions, but fluffed the chances they got.

Legon Cities got punished for failing to convert their chances as Karela cruised to a 2-0 lead with just 4 minutes to end the first half; Samuel Ofori hit the back of the net to give his side the needed cushion ahead of the break.

Life in the top flight is not looking good for Legon Cities who are doing everything right off the pitch, but struggling on the pitch as they have struggled to get some points on the log.

Karela started the second half oozing confidence as they kept on asserting pressure on their visitors - persistent pressure but failed to capitalise on Legon Cities lack of composure.

With just 10 minutes left to be played, Diawisie Taylor clutched his brace and his side’s third goal of the game to finally stretch the game beyond the reach of their visitors.
