Marco Richter shot his first goal after his recovey testicular tumor treatment to secure Hertha Berlin’s first victory of the season as it defeated Augsburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old winger went against his former club Augsburg, tapping home from close range. Davie Selke selflessly passed the ball to him to finish off a counterattack. Richter advanced through the ranks at Augsburg and then joined Hertha last year.
Lukebakio had headed in Plattenhardt’s cross in 57 minutes for the opener. Augsburg has now lost all but one of its five matches.
“My whole family were in the stadium. I was extremely happy, of course. It was very emotional but this is the way we want to continue as a team to be able to collect the necessary points,” stated Richter after his accomplishment, both emotionally and professionally.
