Roma, Veretout: 'Fonseca influenced choice'

The midfielder completed his transfer today on loan with obligation to buy from Fiorentina for €17m, plus another €2m in performance-related bonuses.

“Being a Roma player means so much. It was a long negotiation process, but I am now very happy to have arrived at a big club,” Veretout told Roma TV.

“The Coach had a big influence too, as he called up and told me this was the right club in which to grow. He explained why he wanted me, that he’d been following me for some time and I’d flourish in his team.Now it’s up to me to repay that confidence with my work on the pitch, giving my all, also in Europa League”.

Milan, Napoli and Olympique Marseille were also interested, but Veretout was determined to remain in Serie A after two seasons at Fiorentina.
