Interesting information published by the English press this Sunday. 'The Sun' reports that if Mohamed Salah reconsidered his future at Liverpool, it was because he was offered more than double what he was earning beforehand. The new amount is around 400,000 pounds a week which, per season, is around 20 million euros.
The discontent of the Egyptian with the fact he was not offered money initially meant he was close to joining Chelsea. Under new ownership, they flirted with the idea of signing him. In fact, the Liverpool big wigs ended up considering the option to sell him for 60-70 million euros.
In the end, 'Fenway Sports Group', the company which controls the club, thought that it was not ideal to allow a top quality footballer to sign for a direct rival in the Premier League even though his contract was expiring in 2023.
