Sassuolo, Caputo: 'Light at end of tunnel'

Caputo scored a brace in Sassuolo’s last game before the coronavirus lockdown against Brescia at an empty Mapei Stadium on March 9, celebrating with a banner that read ‘everything will be fine, stay at home’.

Now, the 32-year-old and his Neroverdi teammates are preparing to travel to Atalanta on June 20 for their first competitive fixture in three months.

Seeing the fixture list after such a long and difficult period seems like a small ray of light at the end of the tunnel, although it certainly won’t be easy, we know that,” he told his club’s official website.

The possibility of resuming, however, is an important step for us and the people who have stayed at home. It’ll be difficult to restart against two strong opponents in Atalanta and Inter. We know the difficulties we’re faced with, but we know we can give them a real good go. Now we’re starting from scratch in a different climate and in conditions we’ve never had imposed on us before".
