Schalke 04 draws up with Union Berlin

Schalke 04 held back the visitors Union Berlin to end up at 1-1 draw to end their six times losing streak to earn the first point at Bundesliga this season. The Royal Blues whose winless run now climbs up to 20 successive league games are thankful to Frederik Ronnow who stood his ground against the continuous assault to deny opponents a win. His flawless save helped deny Christopher Lenz a goal at the 47th minute but the Dane was helpless when Marvin Friedrich got in a header at the 55th minute. Schalke did not hold back when Goncalo Paciencia later scored in the same manner at the 69th minute to level the score. With the draw, they climb ahead of the table at 17th place, and Union tallies five points in this season at 10th place. Elsewhere FC Cologne ended their match at 1-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt with goals from O Duda (52') and A Silva (45'+2' PEN).
