Senegalese forward Sadio Mane sidelined from the World Cup due to injury

Disheartening news that Senegalese forward Sadio Mane will be sidelined from the Qatar 2022 World Cup because of a raging leg injury, has elicited worldwide concern, sympathy, and frustration. Everyone is speculating about the team’s chances now as the tournament kickstarts on Sunday. Mane’s injury is a thrashing surprise to the Teranga Lions’ stint at the World Cup trophy as Senegal’s first match against the Netherlands on Monday nears. Mane had sustained an injury to his right fibula during a match for FC Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen in a German Bundesliga match earlier this month, just 11 days before the tournament was about to commence.

“Unfortunately, today’s MRI shows us that the improvement is not as favourable as we imagined and unfortunately, we have to withdraw Sadio from the World Cup,” commented team doctor Manuel Afonso.
