Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov is now the highest-scoring defender in Europe’s top five Leagues after taking his goal tally to eight.
Kolarov’s penalty not only helped Roma beat Bologna 2-1 on Monday night but also saw him top the scoring charts for defenders in Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.
Seven of the Serbian’s goals have come in the league, with the other coming during a 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia.
Website Calciomercato.com added the Giallorossi’s Curva Sud stopped their protests against the 33-year-old just as a result because respect for defender's engagement is clearly growing and even statistics are showing it by now.
