With a 2-1 loss to Sevilla, Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid fell farther behind in the La Liga standings. Sevilla got off to a flying start, with Rakitic blasting a 30-yard shot into Jan Oblak's top-right corner after just seven minutes. Felipe, on the other hand, wiped off this spectacular strike 26 minutes later to get Atletico back into the game.
Atletico had little attacking inventiveness with Joao Felix once again being disregarded by Simeone and Antoine Griezmann out injured, but they went into halftime even. With just two minutes remaining, Ocampos smashed home, to hand Diego Simeone's side their third consecutive top-flight defeat. Sevilla fell five points behind leaders Real Madrid as a consequence of the match. Sevilla's last game of the season comes on Tuesday at home against Barcelona, while Atleti will be under pressure to complete before the mid-season break with a trip to Granada the following day.
