Sevilla thrashed Barcelona 4-1

Barcelona’s title hopes took a hit as they suffered their heaviest defeat to Sevilla since 1951, losing 4-1. Former Barca winger Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring from the spot after Ronald Araujo fouled Isaac Romero, who later doubled the lead on a swift counter. Marcus Rashford volleyed home in first-half stoppage time to spark hope, but Robert Lewandowski missed a crucial second-half penalty after Adnan Januzaj fouled Alejandro Balde.

Sevilla’s resilient defence frustrated Hansi Flick’s side before late goals from Jose Angel Carmona and Akor Adams sealed a famous win. It was Barca’s first league defeat of the season and came just days after their Champions League loss to PSG. The result leaves them two points behind Real Madrid, while Sevilla move up to fifth.
