Sheffield United registered a win against Aston Villa

Aston Villa was stunned with a 1-0 loss to bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United who was reduced to a 10 men squad for the last half an hour and still came out at the top. While Aston Villa missed the chance to gain three points for themselves that would have moved them within two points of top-four position. For Sheffield United, this was their fourth win of the Premier League season and David McGoldrick scored for Blades as Villa was reeling behind without captain Jack Grealish to support them.

Blades saw Phil Jagielka being sent off in the last half an hour after he denied Anwar El Ghazi a scoring opportunity by tackling him and ninth-placed Villa could not convert that to an advantage. Blades are still 12 points away from safety.
