Sociedad salvage the game with late penalty

Real Sociedad registered a 1-0 triumph over Espanyol in the Spanish league with Alexander Isak’s late penalty that came crashing down on Espanyol six minutes into added time. At the Reale Arena Isak’s hit a low shot from the spot to hand Sociedad their fourth win from six matches. The win improves the chances of the Basque Country club to land a European place next season.

Currently, the side is sixth with 51 points from 30 matches and is two points away from Real Betis and would have to reduce the six points game between them and Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona who are sitting tight in a close fight with 57 points. Espanyol on the other hand is 12th and is looking at a mid-table finish with 10 points of safety between them and the relegation zone.
