Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in a potential swap deal that involves Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez. The Catalan giants are working towards reducing their wage cost after exceeding La Liga’s salary limit recently on top of financial trouble. Ronald Koeman is looking to offload Griezmann who would reduce the financial burden for Barca to a great deal and on the other hand, Saul has expressed a desire to move away from Atleti which has sent Liverpool on a high alert. Niguez has fallen down the pecking order under Diego Simeone and is hoping to get in more playtime next season, with Barcelona it could be possible.
The Colchoneros would demand €20m (£17m) as an add-on for the midfielder. Niguez is currently competing with Koke, Thomas Lemar, Marcos Llorente, Hector Herrera, and Geoffrey Kondogbia within the club. The swap could see Griezmann return to Atletico Madrid after leaving the club in 2019.
