Stuttgart’s Erik Thommy’s elbow injured post rough tackling by Joe Gomez

Although it had been an easy and comfortable win, there had been an unpleasant moment that occurred during the match. The surface of Sportplatz Langley had been pretty slippery after heavy rains which led to a pretty horrible injury for Stuttgart’s Erik Thommy. Erick and Joe Gomez had gone shoulder to shoulder for the ball in the 29th minute. For Gomez, it had been more of a shoulder charge from Gomez into the back of Tommy. This had led Thommy flying into the advertising boards close to the touchline. As a result, Thommy had a broken elbow and had to undergo surgery on Saturday night. He won’t be playing for at least six to eight weeks.
