Szczesny to miss the start of the league season

Juventus' Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will be out for 20 days with a left adductor injury suffered during the last pre-season match against Atletico Madrid, which ended in a 4-0 win, according to the Turin club.

Juve will therefore be without their first-choice goalkeeper for the league opener against Sassuolo and he will almost certainly be unavailable for Massimiliano Allegri's second Serie A game against Sampdoria.

"Due to a discomfort felt at the end of the first half of the match against Atletico Madrid, Wojciech Szczesny underwent radiological exams this morning at J|Medical which revealed a low-grade lesion of the adductor longus muscle of the left thigh. The player is expected to be out for around 20 days", the club said in a statement on Monday.

Italian Mattia Perin will be the starting goalkeeper, at least for these first two league games. Serie A starts, as in Spain, this weekend.
